Our History & Mission

Empowering the regional Hispanic STEM workforce through leadership and professional community.

History of SHPE Treasure Valley

Founded in 1990s, pioneered and developed strength in 2000s and revamped for 2026! We serve the community of Treasure Valley to share our community values: familia, service, education and resilience. The executive board is a team of engineers, community leaders and STEM professionals that want to share their knowledge of our careers.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is the nation's largest association dedicated to fostering Hispanic leadership in STEM. Founded in Los Angeles in 1974 by a group of city engineers, SHPE was created to form a national network of support, mentorship, and professional development for the Hispanic community. Today, SHPE is a powerhouse organization serving over 14,000 members and running more than 240 chapters across the United States.
